“Suites” Art & Culture Video

Peregrine Honig

In this art and culture video, we profile Peregrine Honig's work. She's a nationally renowned fine artist whose work lives in the collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art and the Art Institute of Chicago, among other museums and galleries. While she was creating work for her exhibition, Suites, we discussed creating a short “film” that would explain its evolution from idea into art. The resulting video uses the real and the surreal to tell a story that takes viewers into the mind of the artist.

In an effort to reflect the content of Honig’s exhibition, we sought to infuse the video with a raw quality (all the while maintaining a standard of polish that would reflect the execution of her technique). To achieve that effect, we filmed all of the handheld video footage without image stabilization. The result is a stylized look into a world that speaks authenticity through brutal transparency.

“Working with Scenic Road allowed me to step back from the process of my project and place the conceptual documentation into the hands of a professional and intuitive team. The end result was a short film that made my work transparent, interesting, and most importantly to me, resolved. Scenic Road was fantastic from stem to stern, and with their editing and assistance we created a priceless product that has traveled my work and ideas. I look forward to working with them again and continuously recommend Scenic Road for commercial video needs, creative projects and anything in between.”
